Crime spurt: 3 die, 2 critical

Delhi witnessed a bloody Friday, with as many as three incidents of crimes taking place in the city in which three people were killed and two were injured.

In West Patel Nagar, property dealer Pawan Nangia’s wife and son were found murdered at the family’s J block residence on Friday morning, police said.

“His wife Anuradha and son Cherish (6) were found lying in pools of blood when Nangia returned home around 2:45 am,” said a senior police officer.

Police said personal enmity could be behind the murders.

Central market area in southeast Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar area also witnessed a brutal assault of a mother and her daughter.

The accused, Ankur Sabharwal, attacked 50-year-old Monica Mangal because she objected to his relationship with her daughter Shivangi. Her other daughter Megha was also critically injured in the incident.

In Rohini, 50-year-old Harish Chand Gulati, a milk supplier, was shot dead in his car by unidentified assailants, police said.

“Gulati was on his way to deposit money in his bank,” said a senior police officer. “We recovered Rs 87,600. Gulati’s body has been sent for postmortem.”
