'CVC, like Babri for BJP, is loss of credibility for govt'

Days after the SC issued notices to Advani and others on hatching a conspiracy to demolish the mosque, Advani recalled he had said in 1992 that the demolition dented credibility of BJP.

The senior BJP leader wrote on his blog on Sunday that though some colleagues had criticised him for being apologetic about the events after he called the demolition the saddest day of his life, he had replied, "I am not at all apologetic. Indeed, I am proud of my association with the Ayodhya movement. But I am extremely sad our party's credibility has been badly dented by happenings of Dec 6."

Advani then saw the appointment of CVC PJ Thomas as a loss of credibility for the Manmohan Singh government.

"Having identified 'credibility' as the most important attribute of an individual or an organisation, I would like to affirm that, today, the Manmohan Singh government's credibility is in a shambles," Advani wrote on his blog.

"The bigger tragedy however is that in the matter of pre-empting wrongdoing by scamsters, the government has totally abdicated its responsibility," he added.

"So, whether it is the case of Thomas or Raja, or Hasan Ali, or CWG officials, it is repeatedly the SC that has had to take action, rather than the government."
