The relay hunger strike called by resident doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Aiims) entered its second day on Tuesday.

The strike is in support of a senior resident doctor accused of molesting an eight-year-old boy in the hospital ICU in January this year. The doctor was later sacked.
Patient services, however, were not hit at the hospital, as doctors are observing a silent protest. The out-patient department (OPD) was also running as usual. More than 300 resident doctors are protesting against the hospital’s decision to sack the senior resident from the neurosurgery department on February 3, as both the hospital’s inquiry and police investigation found nothing conclusive against the doctor.
