They later submitted a memorandum at the L-G’s office requesting him to expedite investigations. DDA announced the draw of 5,238 flats under its 2008 Housing Scheme on December 16.

The Union Urban Development Ministry (UDM) had put a freeze on allotment after allegations were leveled against DDA that a cartel of builders had forged documents and availed of loans from banks to get flats under the reserved category. “We submitted a memorandum at the LG office demanding that the freeze on allotment should be lifted immediately,” said Neeraj Kodeshia who heads the DDA Successful Allottees’ Association.

The memorandum states, “It seems that our dream-homes have been snatched away from us. We have been running from pillar to post, sometimes to the Economic Offence Wing of Delhi Police, at times to the DDA at the same time holding meetings amongst ourselves and so on. But still we are clueless about the developments in investigations, as it seems that EOW has made this case a lifetime project. All this is utterly painful for us.”

Allottees are facing a lot of harassment on account of the delay. “This delay on the part of the EOW in completing the enquiry is totally uncalled for and it is very torturous for us,” said Vikas Bhardwaj, another successful allottee. .

A senior DDA official, however, said, “The report from Centre for Development of Telematics is expected by this month end. Once the report is submitted and the UDM gives us the green signal we will start handing over the flats.”
