Death toll in building collapse rises to 8

Cranes and earth movers were trying to clear the rest of the rubble from the site where seven people, including two children, were killed and several others injured when a building collapsed in Seelampur.

With the body of one more person recovered from the debris of the four-storey under construction building, the toll in the mishap has climbed to eight today.

The body was recovered early today by the rescuers as the rescue operation continued for the third day today, police said.

"A body of middle-aged man has been recovered from the site where some more persons are suspected to be trapped under the debris," they said. They also said the identity of the victim could not be ascertained immediately.

Meanwhile, the owner of the building Deepak Garg is still absconding, police said, adding efforts were on to nab him.
