Delhi: 23 children rescued from garment factory

On Thursday, 23 children, all aged between 7 and 15 years and had been trafficked from Nepal and Bihar, were rescued from a garment factory in central Delhi’s Nabi Qarim.

According to the police, a raid was conducted with the help of NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) at five different units and the children rescued.

They said eight traffickers and employers had been detained for questioning during the raid.

“All the boys who have been rescued are between 7 and 15 years in age. They have revealed that they were made to work in deplorable conditions for 18 hours a day at a stretch,” said Rakesh Senger, an activist of Bachpan Bachao Andolan.

All the rescued children claimed they were brought to Delhi on the pretext of being provided with better education.
