Delhi: 900 low-floor buses to remain off road

The impact, however, was not much as it was a public holiday and offices and educational institutions were closed.

These buses are likely to be off road on Monday as well.

Delhi Transport Corporation withdrew these buses on Saturday.

The decision was taken after an empty bus was gutted in a fire due to “short circuit” on Friday evening. It was the third case of fire in as many months.

Delhi transport minister Ramakant Goswami said a team of engineers from both DTC and bus manufacturers Ashok Leyland is carrying out inspection of these buses.

“The buses would only be allowed after a thorough inspection. We have already warned the bus manufacturers and strict action would be taken if more such incidents take place,” Goswami said.
