Heavy smog in the national capital plummeted visibility to 200 metres early on Sunday as the city recorded a minimum temperature of 13.5 degree celsius, a notch above the season’s average.
“Visibility at 8.30am. was 200 metres, caused by the heavy fog and the smoke. This situation is going to deteriorate if not controlled,” an official of the India Meteorological Department told IANS.
Humidity at 8.30am was 96%.
According to IMD, the sky later during the day will be clear and the maximum temperature of the day is likely to hover around 30 degrees celsius.
“The sky will mainly remain clear during the day,” said the IMD official.
Saturday’s maximum temperature was recorded 28.9 degree celsius, a notch below the season’s average while the minimum temperature settled at 15.4 degrees celsius, a notch above the season’s average.
