For good measure – and apparently to make sure that he was dead – the trio involved went to the extent of slicing open the 56-year-old’s chest with a shard of glass and removing a pacemaker attached to his heart.

Kulvinder Kaur later told police that she had decided to get rid of her taxi driver father Daljeet Singh because he had been sexually harassing her ever since her mother passed away three years ago.

Her accomplices have been identified as Prince Sandhu, 22, a tattoo artist who was arrested on Saturday and 23-year-old Ashok Sharma, who works at an apparel brand’s showroom, and was arrested on Monday.

“On the evening of April 30, Kaur left the main door of her house open so that Sandhu and Sharma could enter without being noticed,” said a police officer.

“While her father slept, the men battered him to death with a wooden cricket stump and broke a window to make a pointed shard of glass to physically extract a pacemaker attached to his chest after ripping it open before shoving it inside a bed sheet, driving to a forested area in Uttam Nagar some kilometres away and dumping it there,” the officer added.

The next day, however, the police stumbled upon Singh’s body – with grave head and chest injuries – on the Ganda Nala Road near the Keshopur Depot and circulated pictures of it to try and identify him.

One of Singh’s relatives identified him through one such picture on the evening of the same day which then led the police to his residence to make enquiries from his daughter.

“When asked about his whereabouts, Kaur claimed that her father, who was employed as a driver with a travel agency, had driven some tourists to Haridwar on the morning of April 30. However, we suspected her role when the travel agency that he worked for denied that he had been sent on the tour that his daughter was talking about,” the officer said.

Kaur was put to sustained interrogation during which she broke down and admitted that she was behind the whole plot.
