Delhi govt approves release of Rs 271 cr to MCD

Delhi Government today approved the release of Rs 271 crore to the MCD for upkeep of its roads, urban development work and for the education sector, including provision of mid-day meal for the current fiscal.

Delhi Government today approved the release of Rs 271 crore to the MCD for upkeep of its roads, urban development work and for the education sector, including provision of mid-day meal for the current fiscal.

This was one-third of the total approved outlay to the municipal corporation.

"An amount of Rs 138 crore has been approved under urban development, Rs 36.75 crore under roads and Rs 96 crore under education including mid-day meal. This is the first instalment of total approved outlay of Rs 912 crore," Delhi Urban Development Minister A K Walia said today.

There will be no dearth of funds for people-oriented projects, he said and hoped that the MCD will ensure proper utilisation of funds and show results and visible progress.

He also asked the MCD to act swiftly to present a better image of the city during Commonwealth Games.
