The Tourism Department of the state government is in the midst of developing a comprehensive portal providing detailed information about the hot spots of the city, facility for booking of hotels, guest houses, purchase of entry tickets and booking of tourist travel packages being provided by the government.

"The idea is to make the city tourist-friendly and do away with touts or unscrupulous tour operators so that the tourists' visit is memorable whether its a tourist trip or for business purpose," a senior official told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

"The portal will have online bank payment facilities, details on tour packages being provided by the government, communication facilities such as radio taxi, train and aircraft," the official said.
