The saffron blockade, to protest against withdrawal of land rights granted to the Amarnath shrine board, wasn’t the only problem motorists faced on Wednesday. The downpour added to their woes as key spots flooded.
The blockade disrupted 48 major intersections during morning peak hour. Over 800 persons, including many politicians were detained.
Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk, Lajpat Nagar, IP Estate, Mehrauli, Laxmi Nagar, and Akshardham junction were the worst affected. “It took me 30 minutes to cross the IP Extension stretch. It’s barely two kilometres long and normally takes five minutes,” said Sandeep Singh, who travels from Vaishali to Barakhamba Road every day.
