The family of Yogesh, who live in east Delhi’s Gagan Vihar, also filed a police complaint for medical negligence.

The hospital refuted the allegations and claimed that the family was informed about his critical condition at every step of the treatment. The police confirmed receiving the complaint.

“We will investigate the matter,” said a senior Delhi Police official. The patient had consulted an orthopaedician at the hospital on March 12 for a tumour in his left thigh.

“He was suggested biopsy followed by excision or excision biopsy. The patient and the family members opted for latter (excision biopsy).

"The patient had already undergone kidney transplant in 2010 at Kolkata. The patient and family members were explained about the diagnosis and prognosis of the condition,” the hospital statement read.
