“Police Commissioner BK Gupta has taken a serious note of the issue. Strict action will be initiated,” the Delhi police spokesperson, Rajan Bhagat, said.

A sting operation by Tehelka, aired on NDTV, had claimed that more than half of the police officers they interviewed using hidden cameras had “shockingly ugly views on rape victims”.

Additional DCP Bhagat said only one officer of the Delhi police was among the 30 officers shown in the sting operation and he, in addition to what he said, was an “aberration”.

He said the city police had a strong institutional mechanism to handle women complainants approaching the force. “We have not so far received any complaint from victims in this regard,” Bhagat said.
