A firm called Envision has been selected for designing one of the biggest public art installations in the city, at Thyagaraja and Chhatrasal stadiums, ahead of the Games.

“The main motive while designing was to highlight ‘sports’ as the country is holding one of its most prestigious sports event Commonwealth games. So, both sculptures have a feeling of sports and celebration. Our team had shown at least 25 designs out of which 5 were finalized which were finally reviewed by the committee. The team has worked day and night on the designs,” said Kunal Kalra who completed his masters in design from NIFT in 2008 and co-founded design firm Envision.

Their designs were selected from over 250 entries received for the two projects. Both art installations will be in stainless steel and around a theme of sportsmanship and celebration.
