The court also dismissed the bail plea of Piyush Guha, a Kolkata-based businessman, who was also awarded life term in the case with Maoist ideologue Narayan Sanyal.

Sen's wife, Ilina Sen, told HT over phone from Wardha she would move the Supreme Court.

Sen's mother Anusua Sen, 84, said: "Frankly speaking even the high court doesn't seem to be differing with the executive..."

The state opposed Sen's bail plea on the ground of his association with Maoists.

It also argued that though Sen claimed to be a paediatrician, he never organised any health camp for children or treated kids.
