Dhaula Kuan Springdales lifts HT Inquizitive trophy

The mood at Siri Fort Stadium on Friday was nothing less than what could be visible in a soccer stadium as students, armed with drums and colourful banners, cheered their teams at the 10th edition of Hindustan Times’ Inquizitive — the annual inter-school quiz competition. The mood at Siri Fort Stadium on Friday was nothing less than what could be visible in a soccer stadium as students, armed with drums and colourful banners, cheered their teams at the 10th edition of Hindustan Times’ Inquizitive — the annual inter-school quiz competition.

The excitement of the 1,500 students reached the crest as quizmaster Siddhartha Basu took over the stage, packed with questions on various subjects, including the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

The questions, ranging from what is the electronic space between accepting and rejecting a Facebook friendship request called to what is the name of Rancho’s school in Leh, at times stumped the 12 finalists.

Though the boys from Rukmini Devi Public School, Pitampura, had an early lead, the duo from Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, Amaan Shreyas and Sarthak Batra, emerged winners after they scored over Amity International, Saket, in a tie.

"It was an amazing win. There were some nervous moments for sure, but then this is where all the fun lies," said Shreyas. His partner Batra said: "This was one of my most memorable moments as I got a chance to share the platform with Siddhartha Basu."

The team from Amity International, Saket, of Arjun Hans and Shreyans Jain was the first runner-up, while the team from Rukmini Devi Public School, Pitampura, of Vishal Golcha and Shrey Sharma, was the second runner-up.

The other three finalists were Air Force Golden Jubilee School, Subroto Park; Bal Bharati Public School, Noida and Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, who were among the 140 schools which took part in the preliminary rounds.

"This is the 10th year of Inquizitive and it was an exceptional entertainment," said Basu.

Mount Abu Public School, Rohini, bagged the Best Cheering Team trophy, while the New State Academy, Pitampura, walked away with the Best Banner prize.

The 10th edition of Hindustan Times Inquizitive quiz competition was presented by HT PACE (Partnerships for Action in Education) in association with Tupperware, Encyclopedia Britannica and Tree of Knowledge, while the media partners of the event were Fever 104 FM, Hindustan and CNN-IBN.
