Amid speculations that Rahul Gandhi may be appointed as the working president of the party, general secretary Digvijay Singh batted for Gandhi in a bigger role.
“Rahul has to come in the mainstream. Right now he is looking only after Youth Congress and the student wing of the party. I feel now he has to look after us all,” Singh told reporters.
Singh, however, refrained from speculating on any time-frame of Gandhi’s elevation in the organisation.
While a large section of the party is expecting an announcement on Gandhi’s new role on November 19, the Congress has refused to speculate.
