No reason was officially given for his absence from the meeting. Trivedi is the lone Trinamool representative in the cabinet.
However, the development comes amidst TMC's reservations against the FDI in retail decision.
"It must be some personal reason as the party has not given any directive to skip the cabinet meet," said a senior TMC leader.
Trivedi had opposed the FDI decision in the last cabinet meeting.
TMC leader Sudeep Bandopadhayay was among the UPA allies leaders who met the Prime Minister on Thursday.
