DMRC agent agrees to give new car as damages

A contractor associated with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, on Friday, promised to provide a new car as compensation to a man, whose vehicle was damaged when a DMRC crane fell on it.

A bench of justice HS Bedi and justice CK Prasad was informed by M/s CEC SOMA JV, a contractor of DMRC, that it was ready to compensate Shashidharan with a new car in the place of his damaged one.

The bench then decided not to go on with the hearing on the petition after Wills Mathews, counsel for the victim, agreed to the contractor's offer.

Shashidharan, managing director of BE Expositions Private Limited, had approached the Supreme Court after the Delhi High Court dismissed his plea.

A crane fell on Shashidha-ran’s car at Jorbagh on May 9 last year, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
