Domestic help gang-raped

A 19-year-old domestic help of Nepalese descent was allegedly gang-raped by two labourers at south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, the police said yesterday. HT reports.

A 19-year-old domestic help of Nepalese descent was allegedly gang-raped by two labourers at south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, the police said on Monday.

The incident took place when the accused found her sleeping alone on the terrace of a bungalow. The accused have been identified as Shirpal, 19, and Suresh, 20.

“The victim had started working at the bungalow, where the incident took place, only three days ago,” said an officer.

The incident unfolded late on Sunday night. Later that morning, the victim approached her employer and related the incident to her. The local police were informed, who then sent the victim to a nearby hospital for medical examination. After the medical exam confirmed sexual assault, a case of gang rape was registered.

“Her statement has been recorded and the accused men, who work at an under-construction site in the area, were arrested immediately,” the officer added.
