Delhi police have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly stealing from south Delhi homes where he worked as domestic help.

The arrest came after investigations into allegations of burglary at the home of a businessman in Defence Colony’s Anand Lok.
“We arrested Kailash Sharma and recovered gold and diamond jewellery worth R15 lakh and $2,500. The complainant, Surender Kishan Gupta, had reported theft at his house on March 20 when he was not present,” DCP (south) Chhaya Sharma said.
Gupta had talked to the police about Sharma, who had left his job as domestic help about six months ago.
“On April 11, Sharma was found at a home in Niti Bagh from where he was arrested. Some of the stolen jewellery were found,” Sharma added.
The police also found that the address provided by Sharma to his employers was inaccurate. He had reportedly shifted out of the address just after quitting the job at Gupta’s home. His cell phone was also switched off.
“Sharma would take work as domestic help while giving incomplete details to the employer. He would then make duplicate of keys of the house,” Sharma added.
With the arrest of Sharma, police claimed to have solved five cases of burglary.
