Mansarovar Hostel

Slots for/fees
Meant only for boys, it has a slot for 167 postgraduate and research students. Rs 1,400 a month (excluding electricity charges, room rental, washing machine and common room) is charged as the fee.
Rooms
Double-sharing for MA previous students, single-sharing for MA final-year students. No air-conditioning.
Bathrooms
Clean. There are three toilets on each floor. Provost keeps a check on the toilets. Each floor has three bathroom cubicles.

It has an LCD TV, CD and DVD player.
Medical care
“We have a very good hospital within a distance of 200m from the hostel. Besides, a health committee comprising students always has a medical kit with it,” claims M. Kazim, hostel warden.
Disabled-friendliness
“The hostel is planning to do something for the disabled students,” claims the warden.
Cleanliness
“We have a limited number of boys and so we keep a strict vigil on cleanliness,” says Kazim.

12 am

Campus security
There are policemen at the main gate.
Food
The kitchen is fairly clean, says the warden. “We come up with a different menu on different days,” says Kazim. Non-veg (including mutton, fish or chicken) is served twice a week. Menu is decided by the mess committee.
Meghdoot Hostel
Slots for/fees
Meant only for boys, it can accommodate 100 postgraduate and research students and only one or two undergraduate students; Fee is Rs 1,440 per quarter.
Rooms
Double-sharing for MA previous students, single-sharing for MA final-year students. No air-conditioning. Students can install room coolers.
Bathrooms
Clean. Six people share three toilets. Each floor has three bathrooms. Six people share three bathrooms.
Facilities
Common room has an LCD TV, CD and DVD player available.
Medical care
“The authorities plan to get a resident doctor,” says Nandini Priyadarshini, president, Students’ Union. Medical kit is available.
Disabled-friendliness
Ground floor rooms have been allotted to the visually and physically-challenged residents.
Cleanliness
“It’s our hostel and we need to maintain cleanliness here,” says Priyadarshini.
Curfew time
A resident cannot enter after 11 pm. Resident tutor’s special permission is required to go out on certain occasions.

Food
New utensils, curtains, microwave ovens are available. Breakfast includes boiled milk and eggs with seasonal fruits. Non-veg is served twice a week. Ice-cream and some other sweet dish is served on Thursdays and Iced tea on Tuesdays.
