North Campus is a gourmet student’s delight. Read on:
Momos Point
In a dingy lane behind McDonald’s (your fast-food option) lies the haven for momo eaters of DU’s North Campus. They claim to serve 500 customers daily but all the waiting is worth it. Their most popular item is the Crispy Spicy Potatoes for which you pay Rs 60. A plate of momos here costs Rs 50. All you need for a full tummy here is Rs 100 in your pocket. You must not miss this
QD’s
QD’s is a momo joint with a twist. With its tagline ‘Love at first bite’, what QD’s has on offer are the tandoori momos—their most popular item. A plate of veg tandoori momos costs Rs 65 and non-veg cost Rs 75. Drinks such as the Green Apple Mojito and the Peach Iced Tea are other favourites. Fried momos and Crispy Chili Potato ask for a second helping. The place seats 32, and is almost always full.
Chache Di Hatti
Chacha Di Hatti, the immensely popular joint is the most affordable of the lot. With Chhole at Rs 10, Aloo Bhature at Rs 20 and Kulche at Rs 15, all you need to do is turn up, order and eat. All this and more in less than Rs 30.
Mini Shop
Tucked in a cozy crossroad of the Bunglow Road is the Mini Shop serving pastries and shakes and a variety of foods to satisfy even the stingiest palette. The Mini Shop is most popular for its range of Fruit Beers in all flavours and costing only Rs 25! Here, the most expensive item, at Rs 38, is the Milkshake topped with a generous dollop of ice cream. Their cheapest carry are the delicious patties; cost: only Rs 12.
The FMS Canteen
Students at the canteen at one of India’s top B-schools swear by the Sambhar Rice and the Idlis served here. These items, despite their popularity, are priced at Rs 15. The Samosas, another specialty, cost just Rs 4. Its Canteen’s ‘Finger Chips’ are also among the best sellers.
The DSE Canteen
Here, all you need is just a Rupee. For that one Rupee, you will get two pieces of bread with butter! The Mutton Dosa is well-loved by everyone and costs only Rs 26! The canteen is always busy and is a must try.
South Campus
34 Chowringee Lane
If you are looking for rolls then 34 Chowringee lane is the place to be. Serving delicious rolls and momos of all kind, the seven-year-old shop does great business. The eat-out joint is right opposite Sri Venkateshwar College. A Paneer Roll at Rs 30 and Chicken Roll for Rs 35 are the most preferred items.
QD’s
Yes, there are two of them. This is a branch of the first one. The finger-licking food will attract you to this joint. The multi-cuisine restaurant is situated in the Satya Niketan market near South Campus. The best selling items are Tandoori momos; Vegetarian Rs 65 and Non-Vegetarian Rs 75. So sit in the great ambience and enjoy the great taste.
Sam’s Express Kitchen
How about having an Indian, Chinese, Spanish and Continental food from a single place at a reasonable price? Sam’s Express Kitchen, in Satya Niketan market, is a unique food joint, serving everything, from paranthas to pasta. The best selling items are Tandoori Pizza for Rs 60 and Curry Rolls for Rs 70.
Keventers
If you are in the mood for cool shakes, Keventers will quench your thirst. This joint in Satya Niketan serves maggi, shakes and cold drinks.
