“These two metro stations will have duty-free shops within a few months,” said Lalit Jalan, CEO and director of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd, the concessionaire company of the Airport Express line, which is all set to be operational soon.

“These duty-free shops will be open in the next three-four months, as they get all the clearances. We do not plan a tender-but will negotiate with the parties concerned,” said Jalan.

The two stations will have swanky look of mini international airports with many facilities that are available at an airport.

Ranging from duty-free shops, passenger check-in and baggage handling facilities, the stations will also have shopping arcades, food and beverage joints, airlines arrival-departure information kiosks, passenger help desks among others.

While the duty-free shops will be available only in two stations, retail area will be there in all the six stations.

Jalan said: “We have booked 20% space in each station for retail activities that will get us huge business.”
