Now, every Saturday, a hassle-free and quick disposal of cases may not be far away. From long pending criminal cases to matrimonial disputes, all would be offered resolution in a single day.

The Delhi Legal Service Authority (DLSA) in a new initiative is conducting mega ‘Lok Adalat’ on second Saturday of every month in all the district court complexes.
Litigants can submit their applications in the DLSA office at the concerned court complex.
With respect to these applications, the concerned cases would be transferred from regular courts to Lok Adalats for quick disposal.
Litigants can get the outcome of their pending cases in just one quick hearing.
A special panel of judges has been allocated to provide a quick and amicable resolution to pending cases.
For example, a litigant
fighting a criminal case (not heinous in nature) could appeal in the Lok Adalat to resolve
his case. The judge would hear both parties and the matter could be resolved at the ease of both parties. Cases once settled in Lok Adalats cannot be appealed against any further.
“If a case can be resolved by offering a solution agreed to by both parties, why drag it for years. The Lok Adalat is a people-friendly solution,” said Gautam Manan, project officer, DLSA. Special kiosks would be set up in the court complex to
guide litigants.
A special team of judges would take care of matrimonial disputes and both parties would be heard peacefully.
The court would offer a solution agreed to by both husband and wife.
Moreover, courts would also hear cheque bounce cases -- sharing a chunk in the pendency of case. Special courts have been set up to deal with disputes related to electricity and other such issues.
“Litigants can avail the information booklet along with a free legal aid form. DLSA officers at all the district courts would assist litigants in all possible way,” said Manan.
