On April 2, HT had reported that only five of 12 elevators in the five-storey Out Patient Department (OPD) building were found to be working, of which only three were open for patient use.
The report had also brought to light the fact that Medical Superintendent Dr Jagdish Prasad had kept two elevators for his exclusive use.
The two elevators are guarded during office hours and do not stop at any other floor expect the fifth which has the Medical Superintendent’s office.
“The medical superintendent has specifically instructed that the elevators would not stop at any other floor,” said an engineer requesting anonymity. Dr Prasad refused to comment.
