Cannot afford a Mercedes or an Audi? Do not sweat, as you can at least own their monograms or insignia and put them on your car at a throwaway price, reports HT Correspondent.
Cannot afford a Mercedes or an Audi? Do not sweat, as you can at least own their monograms or insignia and put them on your car at a throwaway price. The Central Delhi Police conducted raids in the Anand Parbat area and seized large quantities of the star insignia belonging to Mercedes Benz, Audi, Mahindra Scorpio and even Maruti.

The manufacturing unit at which the police conducted raids specialized in manufacturing fake insignia or logos of cars of different companies.
The raid was conducted in the Nai Basti area in Anand Parbat at a manufacturing unit called Sunny Monogram King. As many as 2215 pieces of fake Mercedes Benz pieces were found from the spot along with the logos of other companies.
The raid was conducted on February 6. One of the complainants Anil Deswal said, “Our company Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights lodged a complain on behalf of our clients Mercedes Benz. We had received information that the place was making fake logos, so we lodged a complaint with the police.”
These logos sell for anything between Rs. 50 to Rs. 200 and more depending on the exclusivity of the brand of the company.
These logos are a hot favourite among big car wannabes who cannot afford expensive sedans. “Youngsters buy them and put them on their cars, even owners of the cars like Mercedes buy these logos when the logos on their cars get broken. As the original logo cost a bomb, people end up buying these knock offs,” said a senior police officer.
