Five new missions

The Cabinet on Thursday gave its approval for opening of Indian Missions in Reykjavik (Iceland), Guatemala City, Niamey (Niger), Bamako (Mali) and Guangzhou (China), reports Aloke Tikku.

The Cabinet on Thursday gave its approval for opening of Indian Missions in Reykjavik (Iceland), Guatemala City, Niamey (Niger), Bamako (Mali) and Guangzhou (China).

The Cabinet also approved creation of one Consulate General and four Ambassadors in the Grade of Joint Secretary.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said the decision will help in order to safeguard and promote India’s strategic, economic and political interests in the respective regions.

The government approved a contract worth up to Rs 297 crore with European space company Arianespace for launching a satellite.
