The police identified the arrested politician as Dr M Ejaz Ali, 53. He has been taken into custody from the Okhla area after the police got a tip-off.
"Ali, suspended from JD (United), had been evading arrest in a case registered against him at south Delhi's Hauz Khas police station in 2005. The case was registered under the West Bengal Prevention of Defacement of Property Act of 1976," said a senior police officer.
A surgeon by profession, Ali was suspended from his party last year following allegations of 'anti-party activities'.
