France comes visiting Delhi

For those of us who’ve been craving a Parisian fix, it’s time to rejoice. Bonjour India, a festival celebrating the Indo- French friendship, is being held across the city to promote French art and culture.

For those of us who’ve been craving a Parisian fix, it’s time to rejoice. Bonjour India, a festival celebrating the Indo- French friendship, is being held across the city to promote French art and culture. The festival includes films, performing arts, dance, music, architecture and even dialogues and debates by contemporary French artists and collaborations by Indian artists.

On Saturday, December 12 sit through Litteratures: A French festival of letters, where writers like Olivier Germain-Thomas, Andre Velter and William Dalrymple will discuss what inspires them and how the West perceives India. Hear them out at FIRC and India Habitat Centre.

On Monday, December 14, classical dancer Rukmini Chatterjee mixes the mystical traditions from the European, Indian and Sufi cultures in a show titled Meetings.

According to Benedicte Alliot, cultural attache for the French embassy ,though this is the first edition of Bonjour India, “they are keen to promote French art and will be putting together a festival like this every three years.”
