On Wednesday, testing service provider Prometric and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) celebrated a largely glitch-free beginning to 2010 CAT — from October 27 to November 24 — a year after multiple problems ravaged the test and clouded its credibility.

The number of students who took the test was significantly lower — 4,000 in Delhi as compared to 12,000 last year. “If CAT goes successfully, the credibility will be restored and applicants should surge again,” an IIM Director said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
