Global performances for local cognoscenti

Every year The Park’s New Festival manages to capture the heart of culture patrons with its eclectic performances by artists from across the globe.

Every year The Park’s New Festival manages to capture the heart of culture patrons with its eclectic performances by artists from across the globe. This year too, an exciting range of international performances from Germany, Korea and the United States are scheduled. Ranvir Shah, the curator of the show, calls it “a space for contemporary work from around the globe, to be presented to discerning Indian audiences”.

On from December 8 to 10, the festival kicks off with a Korean modern choreography with eight dancers from the Modern Dance Company in Daegu. Choreographed by Park Hong-Ki, the dance titled Ice or Water is billed as a high-energy, precise, powerful, explosive piece of choreography.

On December 9, Maarten Visser, an improviser who specialises in contemporary composition and saxophone techniques will perform with Keith Peters and Jeoraj George of the trio MV3.

Their individual styles meld together to create a unique sound that is both classical and eclectic.

The finale of the festival is a monologue by H.R. Britton, a well-known storyteller from the US-based production house, the Moonwork Theater Company. The monologue is based on Britton’s visit to India.
