"We met the school representatives and sought their opinion on the lottery system and the point system. The schools said they would prefer point system to the proposed lottery system. The guidelines are still being evolved and will be announced by Monday or Tuesday," said Lovely.

The confusion and anxiety regarding the admission guidelines have been continuing for weeks now as parents and schools are still awaiting admission guidelines from the Directorate of Education.

The confusion began after the ministry of human resource development issued guidelines on admission under Right to Education Act, which mentions that schools can conduct lottery under categories that are considered 'rational and just' by them.

The school associations have been asking the government to retain the point system, which is being followed for the last three years.
