A highly decomposed and half-burnt body of a middle-aged woman was found on the campus of Central Delhi’s Lok Nayak Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. The woman had no clothes on her body.

Sources said the body was behind the burns ward of the hospital for four days before a guard found it after he noticed a foul smell and informed the police.
“The body was highly decomposed and was found at the back of the burns ward. There is a nursing hostel nearby and we are checking whether any missing complaint was filed,” a senior police officer said.
Sources said two to three guards were posted round-the-clock at every entry gate of the campus.
“Someone might have come with the body in a car, and then dumped it inside. But every car is checked at the gate. Currently, we have no clue on how the body reached there,” the officer added.
The police are also checking the list of patients who had come to the burn ward recently.
“There is a possibility that someone dumped a patient after he died. Different kinds of patients come to the burn ward. We are checking the details of critical patients who had come here in the past five days,” the officer further said.
The body, which is yet to be identified, is currently being preserved at a mortuary and post mortem will be conducted after three days.
“We will wait for the claimant for three days, after which a post mortem examination will be conducted. The report will reveal the cause of death,” he added.
