Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday hinted that despite all the opposition, the Centre is determined to push foreign direct investment (FDI) in the retail segment.
Mukherjee said the government would now try to reach a consensus on implementation of such policy reforms.
“We are working on building a policy consensus on a number of issues such as the introduction of goods and services tax, further liberalisation of FDI, including in retail, and deepening and strengthening of financial markets for long-term investment,” he said while delivering his address on financial security and international independence organised by Global India Foundation.
