More than 13,000 people benefited from the free medical aid unit with 80 doctors working round-the-clock in shifts since August 19, the day the anti-graft crusader began his indefinite fast. Of them, 350 were referred to Lok Nayak Hospital.
As Hazare ended his fast, more and more people reached the medical unit as many of them fell unconscious while some complained of uneasiness due to heat. As many as 40 people, including 15 who suffered dehydration or sunstroke, were sent in ambulances to Lok Nayak Hospital.
“Today, more than 800 people received medical aid while the number of patients since August 19 goes beyond 3,000,” said Dr Pankaj Kumar, who was manning the medical unit.
“Fifteen people, suspected to have suffered heart attack, were referred to hospital,” he added.
