The city police's unique initiative to rope in residents and executives for the traffic volunteer scheme has evoked interest among hi-profile citizens too.

Famous golfer Jyoti Randhawa spent an hour at Iffco Chowk on Tuesday morning, trying his hand at managing traffic and spreading awareness among commuters.
Iffco Chowk is one of the busiest intersections in Gurgaon and the heavy volume of traffic often chokes the stretch.
“If we follow the basic traffic rules, a lot of problems can be solved. No one cares to stop behind the zebra crossing and there are people who don't stick to their dedicated lane which often causes jam. As a resident of Gurgaon, I am doing my bit to create awareness,” said Randhawa, who is married to actor Chitrangada Singh.
The traffic police department will be carrying out an awareness drive at Iffco Chowk for the next 20 days.
“We want commuters to follow rules so we need to raise awareness. If we request them to halt behind the zebra crossing for 20 days, they will start following it as a matter of habit soon,” said DCP (traffic) Bharti Arora.
As part of the drive, she will also be present along with volunteers from multinational companies during rush hours. “We have volunteers who will ensure enforcement of traffic rules along with our staff,” Arora added.
