Hoax call about a bomb at Old Delhi Railway Station

Officials receive an anonymous call that a bomb has been planted in a train which later turned out to be a hoax.

Searches were carried out at the maintenance yard of Old Delhi railway station on Sunday afternoon after officials received an anonymous call that a bomb has been planted in a train which later turned out to be a hoax.

The Deputy Station Superintendent of Old Delhi station received an anonymous phone call at 1225 hours that a bomb has been planted in the Sapt Kranti Express, running between Muzaffarpur in Bihar and Old Delhi.

The train arrived here at 0955 hours, two hours behind schedule, was stationed at the maintenance yard when the telephone call was received by the official.

"Bomb detection and disposal experts and dog squad conducted searches in the train for about three hours but could not find any explosives," a railway official told PTI.

The train left the station for Muzaffarpur at the scheduled time of 1645 hours, the official added.
