The capital’s air space would be covered with as many as three choppers provided by the Indian Air Force during the Commonwealth Games this October.

The choppers will also have crack teams of Garud Commando Force, which will hover the skies of the Capital and escort VVIPs and buses used in transporting sportsmen to the games venues and back.
The teams would have the capability to 'fast rope' into any area and take over buildings for high ground cover and sniper positions in case of a situation.
The choppers will work in coordination with the different security agencies. They will also help in rescue operations and removal of VVIPs in case of any attack.
The police said the choppers would also be armed with light machine guns to provide cover fire to the ascending troops. One chopper would always be kept on a standby.
