Human trafficking: Centre told to deport Bangladeshi convicts

A Delhi court on Wednesday convicted six Bangladeshi nationals, who confessed to their complicity in an international human trafficking syndicate in New Delhi, and asked the Centre to deport them at the earliest.

The court, which held them guilty, awarded the punishment of the period spent in jail since their arrest on July 25 this year.

"All these convicts are sentenced to imprisonment for the period already and also directed to be deported to their native country, that is Bangladesh," Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kiran Bansal said.

The convicts, who illegally entered the country, were arrested by Delhi Police after the human trafficking syndicate was busted in July this year.

"An intimation in this regard be sent to the DCP of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, Delhi, as well as to the Ministry of External Affairs to deport these convicts to Bangladesh as early as possible as per the law and rules," the court said.

Illiash Khalil, Kadir Mian, Mohd Saaha Alam, Deepankar Day, Helaluddin and Haider Ali -- prayed for lighter sentence after confessing their guilt.

They were booked under various provisions of the IPC, the Passport Act and the Foreigners Act, dealing with illegal stay, faking documents, cheating, forgery, conspiracy and human trafficking.
