"The first aspect of governance is leadership. First step of leadership is taking decisions," Jaitley said at the CII-AGM, addressed by Gandhi earlier in the day.
The BJP leader trained his gun on the Congress' dual-leadership with Sonia Gandhi as party president and Manmohan Singh as PM.
"The present governance model is faulty. The elected government head must have a last word and if he cannot do that and has to listen to others, then it becomes a three-legged race," Jaitely said.
"History will remember you for what you did when you were in power and not for the duration you were in power for," Jaitley said in a veiled criticism of Singh.
He said that the PM is aware of the problems of the economy and also the solutions, but "the UPA is driven by a different kind of agenda that is expanding the expenses despite weak resources thus leading to fiscal indiscipline."
