Jal Board slapped with notice over sewage drain
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has slapped a notice on the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) for an over flowing sewer drain at Rose Garden near Hauz Khas Village.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has slapped a notice on the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) for an over flowing sewer drain at Rose Garden near Hauz Khas Village.

A large pool of sewage water has formed and its stink has engulfed the entire C block of Safdarjung Development Area neighbourhood. The pool, amid shrubs and trees, is right besides Naveen Niketan apartments on the road leading to Hauz Khas Village. The stench is also troubling visitors to Rose Garden.
Residents claimed large-scale mosquito breeding in the stagnant water has resulted in scores of residents falling ill. Residents claimed at least 100 families from C-7 block of Naveen Niketan have fallen ill, with many affected with malaria and other diseases.
"The problem is that the sewage pipeline is small and the volume huge. DJB carries out repairs but the problem re-emerges," said AL Vohra, president of the local RWA.
The MCD slapped the notice on the DJB officials for creating conditions conducive for mosquito breeding. "If the situation does not improve, we will slap prosecution notice," said YS Mann, MCD's director (press and information).
DJB claimed it has taken remedial measures. "The over flowing manhole has been repaired and the problem has been rectified," said Sanjam Chima, DJB spokesperson.
The DJB will also get the drain de-silted soon, she added.
