The high court on Wednesday favoured student elections in Jamia Milia Islamia, which have not been held since 2006.

A high court bench, headed by Justice SK Kaul, directed the vice-chancellor of the central university to form a committee to explore the possibility of student polls.

The court was hearing a PIL filed by a final-year BA student and a lawyer Sitab Ali Chaudhary seeking a direction to the university administration to conduct polls to the student union.
