Jamia students to protest fee hike

With the university not taking any note of their protests against the massive fee hike in some courses at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), its students are set to hold a demonstration against the Jamia vice-chancellor, Najeeb Jung, at Urdu Ghar, ITO, on Thursday. HT reports.

With the university not taking any note of their protests against the massive fee hike in some courses at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), its students are set to hold a demonstration against the Jamia vice-chancellor, Najeeb Jung, at Urdu Ghar, ITO, on Thursday.

JMI students will be joined by students from Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University.

The protest comes days after students marched to the HRD ministry to voice their concern.

Students at Jamia have also accused that all forms of dissent have been completely banned at the university and the atmosphere has become stifling.

"Students who raise their voice are being victimised. There is no students' union in the university for the past so many years but no one cares," said a student, who will participate in the protest on Thursday.
