This means the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main venue, will be finally locked down on Saturday, with only one day to go for the Games. The entire security apparatus would be in place on Saturday with armoured vans patrolling the area.

Snipers and commandos have been deployed every 10 metres both inside and outside the stadium. The venue has been turned into a fortress with entry being allowed only for people who have accreditation passes.

The police said more than 5,000 police personnel have been posted at the venue. The Army has been put on stand by duty.
