Prasad said the Central Bureau of Investigation was searching the offices of Kejriwal’s secretary Rajender Kumar over allegations of corruption and accused the Aam Aadmi Party of giving the investigation a political colour.

“Kejriwal’s language was unwarranted, shameful and condemnable. We demand an unqualified apology for the baseless allegations,” he told reporters.

“Why is anti-graft crusader Kejriwal backing an officer who is facing corruption charges?”

Prasad’s response came after a volley of tweets by Kejriwal, who accused the central government of political vendetta and using Kumar as an excuse to go through the CM’s files.

“CBI raids my office. When Modi couldn’t handle me politically, he resorted to this cowardice. Modi is a coward and a psycopath,” the CM had tweeted in the morning.

The AAP chief said he would have taken action against Kumar himself if the CBI had shared the proof they had with him but Prasad rejected this contention.

“According to the law, there is no need for the CBI to seek permission before carrying out a raid. If the CBI informs in advance, there is always a chance of files disappearing,” Prasad told reporters.
