Profession: Rana’s family has a rolling mill industry. He also looks after the business whenever he
gets time.

Education: He graduated in political science from Delhi University.

Political career: He is a recent entry into Delhi’s political scene. He calls the late BJP leader Sahib Singh Verma his mentor. “I was influenced by him to join politics,” he said. He contested the assembly elections for the first time in 2003 from the Shahabad Daulatpur seat and won. He was also president of the BJP’s farmer cell.

Family: Wife Anita is a homemaker. She is a postgraduate. The Ranas have two sons, both are studying in Delhi Public School, Rohini. Rana was an active sportsperson during his college days and even now, whenever he gets time, goes for a swim. Rana also lists gardening as his favourite pastime.

Cars: Rana travels in a Toyota Qualis. The family owns a Maruti Zen.
