Chaudhary has been booked under section 188 of CrPC for not getting the antecedents of his tenant, Manoj Kumar — accused of the rape — verified.
His son, Lovely Singh, is reportedly missing after the incident came to light.
According to a police officer, Chaudhary had given Kumar a room on the ground floor for a rent of Rs 400 per month. He did not ask Kumar for any identificaiton documents and did not get him verified by the police.
Prabhakar, DCP (east), said Kumar and Chaudhary have given contradictory statements as to when the room was given on rent.
Meanwhile, the vigilance department of Delhi Police have launched a probe into allegations that the victim's family was offered 'compensation' of R2,000 by a police officer. The report is expected today.
