The ongoing violence in the Valley has been instigated by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) from across the border, according to IB intercepts.

According to media reports, the violence has been fuelled in order to derail the upcoming meeting between the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan.

Many parts of the Kashmir Valley has been brought under a curfew after four civilians, including a woman, were killed by the security forces.

The Army staged flag march in several district of the valley to contain the growing protests, including Srinagar city after more than a decade now.

Expressing the hope that the army would not be required in the Kashmir Valley for too long, Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday said it was being deployed as a deterrent to help police and paramilitary forces maintain law and order in curfew-bound Srinagar.

He said the central government had deployed the army after the request from the state government.

The minister appealed to parents in the valley to not allow their children to violate the curfew and stone security personnel.
